What a Solar and Inverter System Really Costs in Lagos
Most quotes people show us are built backwards: a package size is picked, then the home is squeezed into it. Correct pricing starts with the load you want to carry and how long you want to carry it.
Step one: measure the load, not the house
Bedroom count tells us very little. Two identical duplexes can differ by a factor of three once you add air conditioning, a borehole pump and a chest freezer.
We list every appliance you want backed up, its running power and how many hours a day it runs. That produces a daily energy figure in kilowatt hours, which is what actually sizes the system.
Step two: batteries drive the budget
Storage is usually the largest single line on a hybrid quote. Lithium costs more upfront than tubular batteries but typically delivers far more usable cycles, which is why we specify it for most homes that run daily.
- Inverter rating covers peak load, not total energy
- Battery capacity covers how long you run without sun or grid
- Panel array covers how quickly you refill the batteries
Step three: decide how independent you want to be
Full independence from the generator is achievable, but it costs more than a system designed to carry essentials through the evening and overnight. Many clients start with essentials, then expand the array and storage in a second phase.
We design phase one so phase two does not mean replacing equipment.
What quietly inflates a quote
Roof type and access, changeover and protection gear, cable runs from roof to inverter room, and remedial electrical work on an older distribution board all affect labour and materials. A quote without a site visit hides those costs until installation day.
